Patient #21045 Case Study (In Progress)

During her evaluation at Hair Loss Heroes, a comprehensive biologic assessment was performed to identify the internal factors influencing her hair follicle health. Hair growth is regulated by a complex interaction between hormones, nutrient reserves, metabolic balance, and follicular signaling pathways.

By her mid-50s, however, the rate of hair loss began to accelerate and the thinning became much more noticeable, particularly when styling her hair. Like many women facing this challenge, she tried numerous products, supplements, and cosmetic solutions in hopes of restoring volume, but the results were minimal and temporary.

Patient's Story

This 60-year-old female patient came to Hair Loss Heroes after experiencing many years of progressive hair thinning that had gradually affected her confidence and quality of life. Throughout most of her life she had thick, beautiful hair and never imagined she would one day struggle with hair loss. However, after undergoing a full hysterectomy at age 40, she began to notice subtle changes in her hair density. Initially the thinning was mild and occurred slowly over many years.

As the emotional impact grew, she began researching women’s hair thinning treatment options and realized that many solutions were cosmetic rather than medical. She also searched for doctors that treat thinning hair because she wanted a true biological evaluation rather than another temporary fix. Determined to find real answers, she scheduled an evaluation at Hair Loss Heroes, a clinic focused on treating women’s thinning hair through medically guided care.

During her consultation, she expressed a strong desire to understand the biological reasons behind her hair loss. More importantly, she wanted a personalized women’s hair thinning treatment plan created by experienced doctors that treat thinning hair, rather than relying on over-the-counter products. The clinical team at Hair Loss Heroes specializes in treating women’s thinning hair, helping patients identify the underlying causes of hair loss and develop a strategy designed for long-term results.

Bloodwork and Biological Diagnostics

During her evaluation at Hair Loss Heroes, a comprehensive biologic assessment was performed to identify the internal factors influencing her hair follicle health. Hair growth is regulated by a complex interaction between hormones, nutrient reserves, metabolic balance, and follicular signaling pathways. In post-menopausal women—especially those who have undergone surgical menopause through hysterectomy—changes in hormone balance can significantly influence the hair growth cycle. The patient’s history of hysterectomy likely altered the long-term hormonal environment that supports healthy follicle function. Over time, these shifts can affect follicular signaling, circulation within the scalp, and the metabolic activity required to sustain strong hair production. In addition to hormonal influences, nutrient reserves that support follicular metabolism were evaluated. Hair follicles are among the most metabolically active structures in the body, requiring sufficient nutrient stores to remain in the growth phase of the hair cycle. When key biologic systems become imbalanced, follicles may gradually shift into shortened growth cycles, resulting in reduced hair density and increased shedding. The patient’s evaluation indicated that her hair thinning was not the result of a single isolated factor but rather a combination of biologic influences affecting follicular vitality over time. Understanding these underlying contributors allowed the clinical team to design a strategy aimed at improving the internal environment that supports healthy hair growth.

Treatment Plan

This patient’s treatment plan was developed to address multiple underlying contributors to her hair loss while supporting optimal results from the Hair Loss Heroes PBC regenerative restoration protocol. Comprehensive lab analysis revealed suboptimal iron stores, a key factor in follicular health and hair growth. To correct this, a targeted iron supplementation program was implemented, along with nutritional guidance to improve absorption and long-term stability of ferritin levels.

Hormonal balance was identified as another critical component. The patient had been placed on an estrogen patch without a comprehensive hormone management strategy. Further evaluation revealed significantly elevated SHBG levels, which reduced the availability of free testosterone—an essential hormone for maintaining healthy hair growth in women. Our recommendation included a referral for more specialized hormone management to achieve a balanced relationship between estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone, rather than a one-dimensional approach.

Additionally, mild thyroid irregularities were identified. A natural selenium-based support protocol, including supplementation derived from Brazilian nut oil, was introduced to help optimize thyroid function and support metabolic balance.

This integrative treatment plan was carried out in tandem with our PBC regenerative therapy to restore follicle vitality and stimulate new growth. Patient compliance was emphasized as a critical factor in achieving successful outcomes. By addressing iron levels, hormonal balance, and thyroid health simultaneously, this patient was positioned for improved hair density, reduced shedding, and sustained long-term results.
